Zimbabwean women are making strides to dominate in business through hardworking. Women like Dr Divine Ndhlukula is competing with men in the business which was not meant for women but she manange to dominate the existing players in the field of security services.
Dr Divine Ndhlukula is a Zimbabwean businesswoman, founder and Managing Director of DDNS Security Operations (Pvt) Ltd which is the holding company for SECURICO Security Services.
She was born Divine Simbi on 5 February 1960 in rural Gutu and grew up there. She was married to Stanley Ndhlukula (Late) and has one son-David Simbi and two grandchildren.
Dr Divine Ndhlukula is a holder of an Executive Masters in Business Administration (MBA) at Midlands State University and holds another MBS from Women’s University in Africa and a PHD in Business Leadership from Women’s University which was conferred in recognition of her business leadership and gender equality initiatives.
Before founding SECURICO Security Services, she worked for the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation and Old Mutual for six years as an Accounting Officer and then joined Inter market Life Assurance as a Marketing Executive where she worked for 16 years and only left to found SECURICO.
Overshadowed by purpose and passion Ndhlukula found SECURICO Security Services from humble beginnings in Zimbabwe in 1998, this was a period of economic downturn.
Among the business women in Zimbabwe Ndhlukula realized that while male leaders are allowed to have complex personalities, powerful women out there are undermined by stereotypes.
In an interview with Business Mail Dr, Ndhlukula said, “The idea to form SECURICO was conceived out of the need to earn a livelihood but critically to revolutionize the male dominated security industry.”
SECURICO is the first Zimbabwean security company to be certified to internationally acclaimed ISO9001:2008 Quality Management System.
Dr Divine Ndhlukula was named one of the most successful women in Africa by Forbes.
Besides SECURICO, she also founded Zvikomborero Farms, an agricultural company involved in a variety of farming activities and presently employs many people including some on temporary basis.
In August 2018, Dr Ndhlukula was also named in the top 10 CEOs in Africa.
Dr Ndhlukula is also an advocate of women empowerment. She is the founder of the Mentorship in Practice Programme, women owned brand initiative, an offshoot of the Women in Enterprise Conference and awards platform which she started in 2013 to help women scale up their businesses.
In this 21st century, Dr Divine Ndhlukula is among the women who continue to make serious strides with their leadership, innovation, and desire to help other women reach even greater heights.
Her success did not come easy, she had a deftness of purpose and she pursued her goal with everything she had. Dare to be different.
