Harare City Parking has introduced a self-service mobile parking application called Park, an application that is set to ease inconveniences to its customers.
E-payment platforms have made it possible for motorists to make payment processes easy and affordable.
In an interview with Business Mail, City Parking public relations manager Francis Mandaza said the application had added an element of convenience to the payment system since it enables motorists to pay and top-up parking fees on their own.
“The application is available on Google Play Store and is embedded with mobile money transfer services that include EcoCash and OneWallet and we are hoping to bring TeleCash on board,” Mandaza said.
City Parking has taken into consideration the digital divide anomaly in Zimbabwe that is rooted in the lack of smart mobile phones.
It, therefore, decided to partner with Econet to develop the USSD version of the Park Assist payment platform which is compatible to most mobile phone.
“In these trying times of COVID-19, the self-service and USSD Park Assist platforms are very relevant in promoting social distancing as they reduce human contact with the City Parking marshals.
In the process, the system combats the spread of the virus,” Mandaza added.
The move has been welcomed by motorists as it is efficient and saves times.
