Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) members worked hand in glove with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s government in the structuring of the economic blueprint, National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) which is set to run from 2021 to 2025.
President Mnangagwa recently announced that is happy with the work that the (POLAD) is doing to bring solutions to some of the challenges facing the country.
POLAD is a grouping of 2018 presidential hopefuls, who are not mere spectators, but are really advisors to President Emmerson Mnangagwa as they proffer solutions on issues to do with the country’s affairs.
In a statement, POLAD convener, Retired Justice Selo Nare said that it is envisaged that the NDS 1 will transform Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income society by 2030.
POLAD also highlighted that 2020 was difficult because of the outbreak of the deadly pandemic COVID-19 which imposed adverse effects on the business fraternity.
Nare said POLAD engaged with the Captains of the industry which provided them an opportunity to deliberate on the specific challenges that they faced by the business community during this COVID-19 era.
POLAD successfully hosted an economic summit which came up with strategies to stimulate economic growth.
“A report was produced incorporating all the recommendations which were submitted to the President Mnangagwa, some of the recommendations have already started being implemented which shows the government’s commitment in addressing the nation’s challenges,” Nare said.
“POLAD also held an interface with Ad Hoc Inter-Ministerial Taskforce on COVID-19 to understand Government’s responsiveness towards combating the pandemic.
POLAD continues to encourage an integrated approach in national healing and national building.
