The Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Felix Mhona, has supported the Ministry of Industry and Commerce’s Local Content Strategy for infrastructural development projects in the country.
The Local Content Strategy was adopted in 2019 as a tool that is used in industrial policies to stimulate industrial activity as well as fostering local value addition through utilisation of domestic resources and localisation of supply chains.
In his recent twitter handle, Honourable Felix Mhona said using local resources for local development is the way to go.
“Yesterday I toured Bitumen World Quarry Station in Mwenezi. They are producing quarry stones for the construction of the Harare-Beitbridge Highway and their production capacity is 160 tonnes per hour,” he said.
Ministries are being guided by the economic blueprint, the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) through which the industry’s main thrust is pushing or promoting or increasing production using local resources, creating employment and introducing innovation.
