Minister of Environment, Climate, Tourism, and Hospitality Industry Mangaliso Ndhlovu on Thursday launched a domestic tourism campaign under the dubbed, ZimBho, #Izim Yami #Vakatsha.
Speaking in Kariba during the launch Ndhlovu said the first step towards creating demand for our existing tourism products and services is through domestic tourism campaigns.
“This campaign is designed to focus mainly on the domestic market whose contribution to the economic growth and development is yet to be fully realized,” Ndhlovu said.
The campaign came at a time when the tourism sector has been on its knees due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ndhlovu said the importance of reviving domestic tourism is to increase competitiveness because domestic tourists automatically become destination ambassadors.
“Domestic tourism further expands the value chain and helps in building national pride at the same time promoting national understanding among locals,” said Minister Ndlovhu.
